Viltrumite Prison Planet

A prison planet where Viltrumites and other prisoners, like Battle Beast, are held before execution.

The Viltrumite Prison Planet is a Viltrumite prison planet where Nolan Grayson was held captive after first being taken to Viltrum. The planet is where Nolan is sentenced to death, but Viltrumite law dictates that he must be at full strength before execution. Nolan had already agreed to join the Coalition of Planets before the prison break, and the two escape from the prison during a chaotic breakout. Battle Beast, also imprisoned on the planet, escapes on his own in the confusion. The three kill the two Viltrumite guards, along with most of their security forces. Battle Beast disappears in the chaos, and earlier in their prison cell conversation, Nolan reveals to Allen that there are fewer than fifty pure-blooded Viltrumites left.

Lore & Background

The Viltrumite Prison Planet is a prison planet used by the Viltrumite Empire. Nolan Grayson is held captive there after being taken to Viltrum first, then sent to the prison planet following the attack on Thraxa. He is sentenced to death, but Viltrumite law requires that he be at full strength before execution. Allen the Alien allows himself to be captured to find Nolan on the planet. By the time of the escape, Nolan has already agreed to join the Coalition of Planets. During the escape, Battle Beast, who is also imprisoned there, breaks free on his own amid the chaos. Allen and Nolan kill the two Viltrumite guards and most of their security forces. Battle Beast disappears in the chaos, and earlier in their prison cell conversation, Nolan reveals to Allen that there are fewer than fifty pure-blooded Viltrumites left.

In Their Own Story

The air on the prison ship was stale, recycled through systems that hummed with a low, constant vibration. Nolan sat in his cell, his strength slowly returning as the Viltrumites prepared for his execution. He knew the law: he had to be at full strength before they could kill him. That gave him time. When Allen the Alien arrived, having allowed himself to be captured, Nolan saw his chance. Battle Beast, a fellow prisoner, joined them. Together, they killed the two Viltrumite guards and most of the security forces. In the chaos, Battle Beast vanished, and Nolan told Allen the truth: fewer than fifty pure-blooded Viltrumites remained.

Reader's Guide

The Viltrumite Prison Planet is a key location in the Invincible series, appearing during the Viltrumite War arc. It is a prison ship where Viltrumites hold their own kind before execution. The ship is the site of Nolan Grayson's imprisonment after he is captured by Viltrumites on Thraxa. Allen the Alien infiltrates the ship by allowing himself to be captured, and with Battle Beast's help, they escape. The escape results in the deaths of the two Viltrumite guards and most of the security forces. This event is crucial because it reveals that there are fewer than fifty pure-blooded Viltrumites left, a key piece of information for the Coalition of Planets. The prison ship is not a planet but a vessel, and its existence underscores the Viltrumite Empire's brutal justice system.
