Invincible Codexery

Conquest

A ruthless Viltrumite warlord who forced Earth's hero to break his own moral code.

Conquest is a formidable Viltrumite warlord and one of the primary antagonists introduced later in the saga. He first appeared during the Viltrumite invasion arc, attacking Invincible directly rather than arriving alongside Omni-Man. While initially defeated and captured by Invincible, he was later freed by other Viltrumites—specifically Anissa and others—from Global Defense Agency custody, returning as part of a larger invasion force and serving as a brutal benchmark of power that Invincible must overcome.

Lore & Background

His final confrontation with Invincible is a defining moment in the hero's development. Conquest utilized psychological warfare alongside his physical dominance, taunting Mark about his father's betrayal and the deaths of his allies. This provocation pushed Invincible past his limits, resulting in a brutal victory that marked a dark turning point in Mark's journey as he accepted the lethality required to survive against such threats. Notably, Conquest wears a simple Viltrumite uniform without a cape or special armor, and his breakout occurred after his capture—the Guardians of the Globe were not involved in that event.

In Their Own Story

The sky above the ruined city burned with the heat of falling debris. Conquest hovered amidst the dust, his cape snapping violently in the wind generated by his own speed. He did not fly like a bird; he moved like a hammer strike. Below him, Invincible struggled to rise from the pavement, blood coating his teeth. The Viltrumite smiled, devoid of mercy, knowing that pain was merely a tool to break wills. He descended slowly, savoring the moment before impact, confident in the empire's inevitability.

Reader's Guide

The Viltrumite Empire operates on a strict hierarchy based purely on physical strength and conquest capability. Conquest represents the vanguard of this ideology, tasked with softening worlds for the main fleet. Viltrumites possess immense durability and speed, making them nearly invulnerable to conventional weaponry. However, their arrogance often becomes their undoing when facing opponents who can match their power or exploit emotional weaknesses. Historically, Conquest's presence on Earth signaled a shift from scouting to open warfare. His death demonstrated that while Viltrumites are superior in most metrics, they are not immune to the rage of those fighting for something beyond conquest.
